We're taking a break from publishing articles here until after New Year. You may notice bits of website maintenance going on, but that's about all. The time will be spent resting and preparing for some upcoming presentations. If that leaves you with withdrawal symptoms, here's a list of articles you might like to check out....
A good place to start is my Publishing 2.0 clips page, where I've collated links to some of my own favourite articles. Not all of them have been published on this website, and not all are specifically concerned with educational technology, but several of them are entertaining.
If you're looking for inspiration about managing a team, you might care to read Maximising the success of your team.
Alternatively, if your team management skills are fine, but you need to find ways of injecting new life into the subject (ICT), see what you think of Shock Tactics, which gives 12 ideas you can try as soon as term starts again.
Or for a different sort of inspiration, take a look at the videos of children talking about their use of educational technology at Stephen Heppell's Be Very Afraid event in London back in October 2008.
If you still need more reading, why not sign up to Computers in Classrooms, which is free, and download the most recent issues, in which we've covered copyright, cyber-warfare and other hot topics?
In the next issue, to be published in the first week in January, teacher Matt Boot shares some great ideas about blogging in the primary school, and there are book reviews and a reader offer. Also, articles on:
Teaching kids how to make movies.
The formula for speaking success.
Creating a grade-prediction system in Excel.
And others.
What are you waiting for? Look here for further details.
Or catch up on Terry's 2 minute tips. Start at this page to see the latest one, in which I talk about the first impression a school makes when you walk in.
If you're looking for useful links, I've started a blog purely for that purpose. I'll be writing about how it was set up, but here's the link if you're interested in some great articles and websites that I've come across either myself or through others. At the moment there's not much on it (come on, it's been going for less than a week!), but it's being updated twice daily.
Finally, in the new year I'll be posting a podcast of an interview I carried out with Adrienne Blaser. Adrienne is 14 years old and an accomplished writer -- she wrote a great review of Shelfari in the November issue of Computers in Classrooms.
And on the subject of podcasts, there are some "back issues" here which you might like to listen to.
Happy New Year!
