    A break in the madness!

My internet service provider is experiencing a major outage. Thank goodness! What with that, plus a rare break in a frenetic schedule, I'm quite enjoying today, so far.

So what have I been up to, what am I working on, and how can you get in touch (if you really, really insist on it smile_tongue )?

Email sucks you in. Recently, I was late to a training day (not one I was running, I hasten to add), because just as I was about to leave I thought,

"I'll just check my email one final time."

Well, unfortunately there was a rather anguished-sounding email from someone that I felt needed dealing with, so I dealt with it, which meant that I arrived a minute or two after they'd started. How embarrassing.

So this morning, being an addict, I thought I'd check my email from my phone. When I say "this morning", I mean about 3am when I woke up in the middle of the night. That's when I realised that my ISP seemed to be having issues. I checked on their website this morning, and there it was in black and white (well, magenta and white actually):

"Major outage on all email servers"

This has given me a brief respite. Once it has all been sorted out, then will come the deluge. I'll worry about that when the time comes, but for now:

    1. If you have emailed me and I haven't responded in my customary timely fashion, that is probably why.

    2. If you need to get in touch, use my terry[at]terry-freedman.org.uk email address. That is on a different server and remains unaffected. Or you could try me on Twitter.

    3. Am I alone in hating email and being addicted to it at the same time? Please tell me I'm not!

So, what have I been up to? At the moment, I am doing a lot of in-service training: for the Diploma, Functional Skills and using a VLE. Today, for the first time in ages, I have not had to go anywhere, so I visited a relative this morning, and spent the afternoon revising the VLE work. (I'm writing this by way of a break, in fact).

First thing this morning, I allowed myself to sleep in for the first time in ages, and started work at 08:45. I spent over two hours sorting out lists, my diary and answering emails.

My diary is a nightmare, changing every day or so as new work comes in. I've recently been invited to give 4 presentations and have been able to accept three of them, so I will be preparing those in the near future.

In the meantime, I am working on a survey for an article about collaboration for a magazine called Knowledge Quest, thinking about my next post for my Ed Tech Diary blog over at Hot Chalk, deciding what to write about next for the Leading & Managing Educational Technology section of my website, and putting the final touches to the latest issue of Practical ICT. I also need to write something for my other blog.

I was going to get on an exercise bike at some point, but it sounds all too much like hard work.

And now, back to the VLE revision. Look out for more posts here and the other places I've mentioned, and for an announcement about the collaboration survey.

Thanks for taking time to read this.
